Last Week: --------------------------- New Orleans 34 Atlanta 14 – Last week on and off the field turned out to be one of the worst three days in the Falcon’s franchise. Not only did the offense fail to deliver in the crucial red zone, but the defense couldn’t contain the Saints even without their star RB Reggie Bush, apparently out for the rest of the season with a bad knee. Starting the day off with news that Vick will serve nearly two years in jail was a precursor to how the day would go. Things didn’t get better after the kickoff. Chris Redman got the nod and had a good day for his but the defense couldn’t keep it together and stop the Saints. Jenkins didn’t help matters after letting a pass go through his hands to be intercepted and run back for another touchdown, putting the game out of reach for the inexperienced Redman. The good news is, to quote DeAngelo Hall, “There only one way to go, and that’s up.”
This Week: --------------------------- Atlanta @ Tampa Bay, 12/16/07, 1:00 pm est – Former player and current DB coach Emmitt Thomas will be the interim coach for the final three games of this season for the Falcons, hopefully breathing a breath of fresh air into a struggling team. No that Vick’s story has settled and the shock of Petrino’s abrupt departure has worn off, the next two days of practice should come with a renewed sense of purpose. Any player that has been vocal about Petrino had nothing positive to say and all are looking forward to proving they are professionals under Thomas. Look for the heart of Atlanta to be back this Sunday trying to stop a four game skid and give the NFC South contenders a game.
Rumors: --------------------------- No rumors here – just the facts – Petrino did go back to the college ranks and left the Falcons in shock when he walked out Tuesday evening after rumors to the contrary flew around the locker room over a week ago.
Injuries: --------------------------- Antoine Harris (SS) – Knee - Doubtful
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS:
Redman will get the start again after he was 23-for-40 for a career-high 298 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Saints in his first start in more than five years. He should have another decent game this week but would not be a valuable fantasy QB to start.
RUNNING BACKS:
Warrick Dunn could be a good 2nd starting RB this week if Atlanta settles in to an effective offense.
WIDE RECEIVERS:
The Atlanta wide receivers fantasy values are minimal and would not be worth having on your roster for the rest of the season
TIGHT ENDS:
Crumpler would not be a good fantasy value to start this week at TE but will be used to move the ball in short yardage situations to keep the defense off the line and away from Dunn.
PLACE KICKER:
Andersen will put a few points on the board so he should start if you have him on your fantasy team. There aren’t many bright spots on this team so far this season but Andersen can be counted on to do his thing when called upon.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
This week will be a another tough defensive week for the Falcons, even with the absence of the Bucs TE Jerramy Stevens. Garcia is back this week so the secondary will need to be on their toes and aggressive. Rated last in the league and giving up an average of 18 points a game.

Last Week: --------------------------- Panthers 13, Cowboys 20: After suffering through the Seattle "win" the week before, when we played like dog poop, it was GREAT to watch the Panthers give it their all and almost upset the NFC-leading Cowboys this past week. It was nice to see Steve Smith crawl off the side of the fantasy milk carton and reappear for the second straight week.
This Week: --------------------------- The Panthers travel to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Buccaneer back-ups. Bucs coach, Jon Gruden, has already said that he's resting most of his starters. The Panthers, who have actually played much, much better on the road should have a good game this week.
Rumors: --------------------------- There's a rumor floating around that Coach Fox won't get fired and will be back next year, despite having two losing seasons in a row. I think it's great as I'm a huge Fox fan. I do think that this team really needs to get a better back-up at QB, because once Jake Delhomme went down in Week 3, the offense struggled a lot.
Injuries: --------------------------- Nothing that will directly affect your fantasy team.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS: Don't depend on a rookie free agent making his third NFL start to win your league. Projection: Moore - 180 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 INT,
RUNNING BACKS: The Bucs are resting a lot of starters, but if you have to start one Panther RB, I'd probably go with Williams instead of Foster, who's toast. Projection: Foster - 50 total yards, 0 TD, Williams - 100 total yards, 1 TDs
WIDE RECEIVERS: Steve Smith is doing far too little, far too late to make me happy (as one of his owners), but Matt Moore is smart enough to know that Smith is one of the best players on the team and tries to get him the ball. I'd start Smith this week, but don't start any other Panther receiver. Projection: Smith - 11 catches 140 yards, 1 TD.
TIGHT ENDS: No ... no ... no ... no.
PLACE KICKER: John Kasey is our only scoring threat. He's ok. Not great, but ok. Projection: 2 FGs, 1 XP
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
Even with Julius Peppers out, the Panther D should play decently enough if you don't have a better option at defense. Of course, if you've had to depend on the Panther defense, you're probably out of any meaningful game ... just like the real-life Panthers team!!!!

Last Week: --------------------------- The Saints are done due to their loss to the Eagles. The Saints ended up doing what they have done all season, not quite getting it done when we all that they could have.
This Week: --------------------------- Saints go to Chicago in the Underperformance bowl. Both teams have been a letdown.
Rumors: ---------------------------
Injuries: --------------------------- Deuce is gone for the rest of the year with his second ACL injury. Bush has a torn PCL and should miss the remainder of the season - monitor this. Some reports that Bush will return but seems doubtful. Stecker is also injured and missed practice for a death in the family. Thomas should get the bulk of carries.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS:
Brees is showing you why you drafted hm early - maybe a few weeks too late. Expect him to burn deflated Chicago D long a few times and manage a solid game especially with Bush out.
300 yds / 2TDs
RUNNING BACKS:
Bush has a torn PCL and could be gone for the season. James Andrews confirmed this. Stecker/Thomas will split the load if this is the case. Thomas has looked good but I believe he will be a change of pace back with Stecker starting and in more run plays. Stecker is probably also out - I see this as a game to see what Thomas can do.
Bush: TORN PCL MOST LIKELY OUT FOR THE SEASON
Stecker: questionable - monitoor but do not play unless you hear better news.
Thomas: 90 yds / 0 TD
WIDE RECEIVERS:
Colson is the man in the passing game. Patten/Moore/Henderson are all chance plays though Patten is most likely to get yards - Moore is semi-likely to score a TD on a given week (though my crystal ball is in the shop so I have no idea what week that is...)
TIGHT ENDS:
Johnson was injured this week, check the injury report if he is able to go. Go with another option, assuming you have one.
PLACE KICKER:
Mare is as good as the offense so if you have faith, stick with him. If you don’t, go with someone else. There is no explanation of PI that is going to help you with this choice. For money, there has to be a better option so go ahead and drop him and take your chances elsewhere.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
Chicago is anemic so this could be a decent week for the Saints - play them and assume the Chicago O does not go deep on the questionable secondary.

Last Week: --------------------------- 49rs - 21, Bucs - 19: Hey, a big round of applause to Coach Jon Gruden who pulled most of his starters in the third quarter and cost a lot of owners valuable fantasy points against a really bad 49rs defense. Gee ... thanks coach! For the few of you who survived and are still playing in Week 17, let's just get on with this upcoming week.
This Week: --------------------------- The Bucs ... well, thier back-ups at least ... welcome division rival Carolina to Tampa this week.
Rumors: --------------------------- Nothing that will affect your fantasy squad.
Injuries: --------------------------- Nothing that will directly affect your fantasy squad.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS: QB Jeff Garcia will probably sit, and there's no way you can put your fantasy playoff life on the shoulders of a McCown brother, so just avoid Buc QBs this week. Projection: McCown - 220 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 INTs
RUNNING BACKS: Earnest Graham will sit. Well, he may play a series or two, but it doesn't matter for your team. The "Michaels" (Bennett and Pittman) will share carries if Pittman's injury improves. Otherwise, Bennett will get most of the carries. Don't expect a lot of production out of anyone. Avoid Buc RBs this week.
WIDE RECEIVERS: Joey Galloway will play some, but I'd be shocked if you see him in shoulder pads in the second half. I can't recommend any other Buc WR.
TIGHT ENDS: Nope. Nothing to see here.
PLACE KICKER: I'm not even sure the Bucs will have enough offense to move the ball into scoring territory this week, but if they do, Bryant should get some scoring chances. Projection: 2 or 3 FGs, 1 XP
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: The Panthers aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut, but if the Bucs rest a lot of their defensive starters, they could easily give up 20+ points and 300+ yards to the Panthers. But, expect the Bucs to get at least a couple of turnovers from Panthers rookie QB, Matt Moore.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THIS WEEK!!!
